Moving ahead: at Sawn Lake
Alberta nod for Sawn Lake drill plans
Alberta's Energy Resources Conservation Board has given Deep Well Oil & Gas the go-ahead to drill six wells as part of the Sawn Lake oil sands development.
Deep Well has signed a contract with Precision Drilling to drill the six wells.
Drilling is set to start around 1 November, depending on weather and ground conditions. Deep Well added that the six vertical wells planned for this phase of the project are to be drilled to a depth of about 2460 feet each. Each well will be tested for production.
Deep Well has a 100% working interest in six contiguous sections of a petroleum and natural gas licence, an 80% working interest in 51 contiguous sections of oil sands development leases, 40% working interest in a further 12 sections of oil sands development leases and an 80% working interest in 6.5 sections of oil sands permits in the Sawn Lake heavy oil area in Alberta. The permits and leases cover 47,759 acres.
