Refit: for the Bluestone Topaz vessel
Singapore outfit wins Bluestone conversion
Singapore Technologies Marine is primed to convert a remotely operated vessel cum platform supply vessel into a geotechnical survey unit for Bluestone Offshore in a deal worth SG$3 million (US$2 million).
ST Marine will convert Bluestone Topaz at its main yard in Benoi for Singapore-based Bluestone as it enters into the subsea market’s niche deep-water geotechnical analysis segment.
Bluestone Topaz measures 72 metres in length with a 6.5 metre depth and maximum deadweight tonne of 2180 and is expected to be redelivered by the end of 2008.
Retrofitting work includes building a new moonpool complete with cover as well as to fabricate and install a new mezzanine deck, tween deck and platform. The vessel will be upgraded and equipped with a derrick system capable of operating in water depths of up to 1800 metres, suitable for major offshore sites, ST Marine said in a statement today.
ST Marine is an offshoot of Singapore listed ST Engineering, while Bluestone started operations last year and expects to be fully operational by January next year.
