Speaking out: Igor Sechin
Russia vows to keep independence
Russia will work with Opec but will stick to independent policies when setting production and export plans, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin said.
Sechin's remarks are the first official comment since billionaire Leonid Fedun, a large shareholder in private producer Lukoil, called on the government last week to consider joining Opec.
"Russia currently shares the first and second place in global oil production and has the right to have its own position," Sechin told Reuters.
