Working together: Shell, Botas and TPAO
Turks ready Shell deal
Turkish state companies Botas, TPAO and global energy giant Shell will announce on Thursday a long-term energy co-operation deal in the region, the Energy Ministry said in a statement today.
"This has nothing to do with oil exploration or production,” a source who declined to be named, at one of the three companies involved in the co-operation told Reuters.
“It will only be for gas. It will include co-operation in Turkey and outside Turkey."
The source said the deal to be signed on Thursday was a memorandum of understanding and not a final agreement.
Last week TPAO chief executive, Mehmet Uysal, told Reuters his company had reached the final stage of talks with Shell to bid together in a partnership in oil exploration tenders in Iraq.
