Taps primed to flow: Iraq and Kurdistan agree to connect Kurd fields to main pipeline
Iraq agrees to connect Kurd fields
Iraq's Oil Minister Hussein Shahristani and officials from its largely autonomous Kurdistan region agreed today to connect two Kurdish oilfields to the main northern export pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
Responding to a question from reporters in the Kurdish capital Arbil about when the oil ministry would grant an export licence for Kurdistan's Tawke oilfield, on which Norwegian company DNO has the concession, and its Shiwashuk field, Shahristani said: "Concerning this issue, we have agreed to prepare and link the pipeline (from both fields) to the Iraqi strategic pipeline, but regarding the exporting process there are still some unresolved points which will be discussed ... in coming days."
