Russia pushes back gas flare plan

Russia has delayed its plan to reduce gas flaring to 5% by three years to 2014, Russia's Natural Resources Minister Yuri Trutnev said.

Both the Energy & Natural Resources ministries have decided to postpone the target, Trutnev told Reuters.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had previously set a 2011 deadline. Russia has said it flares nearly $13 billion of gas each year.
