CNOOC Ltd, the listed unit of China National Offshore Oil  Corporation (CNOOC) is embarking on a plan that envisages increased co-operation with foreign oil companies at home and  overseas as it works to meet a  targeted hydrocarbon production growth rate of between 6% and 10% per annum from now until 2015.

Temporary move: Sheikh Mohammad al-Salem al-Sabah

Sabah steps in to Kuwait oil post

Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad al-Salem al-Sabah will become acting oil minister in the Gulf Arab state's new Cabinet to be unveiled later today, according to reports.

Al-Sabah, a key member of the ruling family, would take over from Oil Minister Mohammad al-Olaim, deputies and a local parliamentary news wire reported.

Reuters quoted local media as saying other candidates had declined the offer to join the Opec producer's new government, worried a political stand-off between Cabinet and parliament may drag on.
