Aramco hits hydrocarbons jackpot

Saudi Aramco has announced three new gas discoveries in the Arabian Gulf and four new onshore and one offshore oil accumulation in the Eastern Province.

The Arabiyah-1 well, in the Arabian Gulf, was tested and flowed 41.1 million cubic feet per day of gas from an open-hole test carried out over the Khuff B reservoir at a depth of 10,500 feet.

Aramco said that under normal production completion, the welshould be capable of flowing at a significantly higher rate.

The Rabib-1 well, also in the Arabian Gulf, was tested and flowed 40.6 MMcfd from a cased-hole test carried out over the Jauf reservoir at a depth of 17,130 feet.

The Hasbah-16 well was tested and flowed 62.1 MMcfd from an open-hole test of the Khuff B reservoir at a depth of 12,700 feet.

Under normal production completion, the well also is estimated to be capable of a significantly higher rate.

Hasbah-16 is located in the northern sector of the Arabian Gulf at about 200 kilometres north-east of Dhahran.

The Jauf-11 well, 300 kilometres north-west of Dhahran, tested oil in the Lower Dhruma reservoir at 8025 feet. The well flowed 2551 barrels per day of oil with 1.2 MMcfd of gas.

The well also tested oil in the Marrat reservoir at 8715 feet and flowed 1620 bpd of oil with 870,000 cubic feet per day of gas.

The Rimthan-9 well, on the northern flank of the Rimthan field and 400 kilometres north-west of Dhahran, tested oil in the Lower Hith reservoir at 10,960 feet.

The well flowed 462 bpd.

The Niyashin-1 well tested oil in the Upper Fadhili reservoir at 11,875 feet and flowed 2076 bpd of oil.

Niyashin-1 lies 60 kilometres north-west of Rimthan field and 450 kilometres northwest of Dhahran.

The Jurayd-101 well flowed oil from three reservoirs, which had not previously proven to be oil productive at Jurayd.

The Shu’aiba flowed 1133 bpd of oil, and the Upper Khafji Stringers flowed 115 bpd.

The Khursaniyah-114 well confirmed the presence of oil in the Safaniya reservoir.

Safaniya was added as a new reservoir to the Khursaniyah field after it flowed oil at a rate of 480 bpd.

The well is in the Khursaniyah field, 138 kilometres north-west of Dhahran.
