Mermaid brings Falck Nutec to Vietnam

By Upstream staff

Health, safety and emergency training specialist Falck Nutec is to set up a training centre in Vietnam’s Vung Tua oil and gas hub under a joint venture deal with Mermaid Marine Vietnam.

The centre, to be built next to Mermaid’s base in Vung Tau, is expected to open in April this year and to supply training to up to 5000 people per year.

The move marks Falck Nutec’s entry into the Vietnamese energy sector.

"Our joint venture with Falck Nutec is a continuation of Mermaid's four-year programme which focuses on developing a leading comprehensive safety and service center in Vung Tau,” said

Mermaid Maritime Vietnam managing director Joergen Lundbaek.

Shareholders in the new training centre will include Falck Nutec, with an 80% stake, Mermaid Marine, with 15%, and Alternative Company, with 5%.
