Italian joy: as the Sicily LNG project gets the nod
Enel revs up at Sicily LNG
Italian power group Enel has received final clearance from authorities for its liquefied natural gas terminal in Sicily, company boss Fulvio Conti said today.
Investment in the project will be around €600 million ($778 million) and construction will probably take between 40 to 50 months, Conti said, speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of a conference.
Enel owns 90% of the project, which should have a capacity of 8 billion cubic metres per year.
Enel will use gas it already has in its portfolio from Nigeria, Conti said, adding that the group is also looking to close contracts with countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Qatar and the Arab Emirates.
