Gassing up: on Sakhalin
Moscow names Sakhalin LNG date
Sakhalin Energy will produce 6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas this year, or around two thirds of its designed capacity, with the first cargo to sail at the end of March, Russia's Energy Ministry said today.
The ministry also said the company, which is controlled by Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom , will increase oil output to 5 million tonnes this year from around the 2 million it was producing in previous years, a Reuters report said.
Sakhalin Energy, which unites Shell Japan's Mitsubishi and Mitsui as minority shareholders, is set to become Russia's first LNG project.
