Brazil pushes for Campos' pre-salt
Petrobras is spearheading its development of Brazil's exciting new pre-salt play with an efficiency drive in the northern Campos basin, off Espirito Santo state.
The company's five-year capital expenditure plan includes investments of $10.3 billion for a region that has been overshadowed by the potentially much bigger pre-salt discoveries made in the Santos basin.
The light oil and gas found at pre-salt horizons in the northern Campos basin lies in more modest intervals than in the Santos variety, but the reservoir underlies big post-salt heavy oil fields that are already under development with new infrastructure, including 20 million cubic metres per day of onshore gas processing capacity.
