Shahristani: Eyeing bidding rounds this year.
Iraq could offer blocks this year
Iraq may offer up oil exploration blocks in a bidding round later this year, Oim Minister Hussain Shahristani said today.
"We are not ruling out production sharing agreements. We are considering offering out exploration blocks... in a bidding round later this year," he said. "We may consider PSAs for that."
Iraq had 65 exploration blocks, he said in a Reuters report. The first two bidding rounds currently underway offer service contracts, a form of contract less liked by international oil majors than production sharing agreements.
