Flag day: CNOOC turns on Bozhong flow
CNOOC turns on Bozhong taps
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has brought the Bozhong (BZ) 28-2S oilfield on stream ahead of schedule, with initial output coming in at 4000 barrels of oil per day from four wells.
BZ 28-2S, which lies in the south of Bohai Bay in water depths of 21 metres, is the largest of China's offshore developments due on stream this year, the company said in a release.
The field is part of the BZ28-2S cluster, which also includes the BZ29-4, BZ28-2SN and BZ34-1N fields.
CNOOC said the field cluster is being developed jointly to maximise commercial value, with BZ28-2S being the first field to start production.
Output from the field is expected to ramp up an average 25,000 bpd by 2011.
The main facilities for the development include one central platform, 49 wells and one floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
CNOOC is set to bring a total of five Bohai Bay fields on stream this year, according to its annual plan.
