Linded up for Iraq gig: StatoilHydro
StatoilHydro in line for Nahr Bin Umar
Norwegian giant StatoilHydro said today it has been invited by Iraqi authorities for talks on developing the Nahr Bin Umar oilfield in southern Iraq.
"We have been invited to negotiate a contract for the development of the oilfield," spokeswoman Mari Dotterud told Reuters.
"We don't know the terms, conditions or the timing... (and) we have not made any investment decisions yet."
Dotterud said that other foreign oil companies have also been invited for talks on developing the field, which is about 20 kilometres north of Basra.
StatoilHydro is one of about 30 foreign oil companies that have been pre-qualified for the country's licensing round.
