Rejoicing in Colombia: Pacific Rubiales hits with pair of wells.
Colombia joy for Pacific Rubiales
Canadian minnow Pacific Rubiales Energy said today it has struck oil with its latest two exploration wells in Colombia.
The Mirla Negra-1 well was drilled to a total depth of 6237 feet in the Arrendajo Block of the Llanos basin.
The well hit the top of the Carbonera C-5 formation at 5,493 feet and showed 6 feet of net pay with an average porosity of 21%. The well tested at 130 barrels per day of 34.5 API gravity oil with a 69% water cut.
Pacific Rubiales holds a 32.5 % working interest in the block.
The Delta-1 well was drilled in the Buganviles Block in the Upper Magdalena valley. The well, drilled to 6,297 feet, hit the Caballos formation and found 20 feet of net pay. Preliminary tests have pegged production at 48 barrels per day of 34.5 API gravity oil.
The Buganviles Block is an exploratory contract with Ecopetrol with Pacific Rubiales holding a 49.4% working interest.
