Pemex not affected by earthquake
Mexican state-owned Pemex is operating normally despite an earthquake that hit Mexico yesterday and an outbreak of swine flu, said a company spokesman.
"We haven't seen any damage yet," said the spokesman, adding that the company is still checking for earthquake damage and it is premature to rule out any incidents.
The earthquake did not hit an oil zone. The epicenter of the 6.0 magnitude quake was in Guerrero, a non oil-producing state, said a Dow Jones Newswire report.
Concerning swine flu, which has claimed an estimated 147 lives in Mexico over the past month, the spokesman said the outbreak has not has an impact on Pemex's operations.
The company is taking precautionary measures such as sending employees home who have flu symptoms, said the spokesman.
