More gas: Independence could bump output.
Independence could bump output
US independent Anadarko Petroleum said today the huge Independence Hub natural gas production platform in the US Gulf produced an average of 900 million cubic feet per day of natural gas in the first quarter, with additional capacity possible.
In an earnings call, Charles Meloy, senior vice president for worldwide operations, said Anadarko, which operates the platform for its owners, sees additional capacity "above and beyond" current run rates at Independence.
Meloy also said the company sees strong natural gas production performance at Independence continuing through the second quarter.
The Independence Hub is the deepest production platform in the Gulf, located in 8000 feet (2438 metres) of water in Mississippi Canyon 920, and the largest offshore natural gas processing facility.
The platform has the capacity to produce up to 1 billion cubic feet per day, or about 12% of total US Gulf natural gas production.
The facility is 80% owned by Enterprise Product Partners and 20% owned by Helix Energy Solutions Group.
