Vanco faces delays with Dzata-1 wildcat
Houston-based explorer Vanco Energy is facing unexpected delays in drilling its debut Dzata-1 wildcat offshore Ghana in the Cape Three Points Deep Block.
The Aban Abraham drillship mobilised to location on 26 April and spudded on 29 April but almost immediately suffered “drilling equipment issues” according to the company.
The unit has has since been unable to drill ahead due to technical problems which sources within the the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation attribute to refurbishment undertaken in South Africa before the drillship set sail.
The Aban Abraham had been retro-fitted for the capability to operate in water depths of up to 2000 metres.
