Waiting for LNG in Chile: First cargo set to arrive at the end of the month.
BG LNG tanker sets sail for Chile
Chile is set to receive its first ever cargo of liquefied natural gas at the end of June after a BG Group cargo set sail from Trinidad for the Quintero terminal.
UK gas giant BG's 145,000-cubic-metre Methane Jane Elizabeth LNG tanker is expected to arrive at its destination on 28 June, according to AISLive ship tracking data on Reuters.
"The commissioning cargo is on its way and it left Point Fortin (Trinidad) on Monday," BG spokesman Neil Burrows told Reuters.
BG has a 40% stake in the terminal and is contracted to supply up to 1.7 million tonnes per year for 21 years to the terminal.
The Quintero terminal will have the capacity to send out 2.5 million tonnes per year by next year, but is being started up in phases, with a lesser import capacity this year.
