Pemex: Looking to up Cantarell production
Pemex looks to help Cantarell output
Mexican state oil monopoly Pemex is seeking bids for maintenance work on an offshore plant that processes gas for reinjection into the Cantarell crude deposits.
Pemex is working to slow the output decline at the giant offshore Cantarell fields, which were overtaken this year by Ku-Maloob-Zaap as Mexico's principal crude-producing fields.
Cantarell, where production peaked above 2 million barrels per day in 2004, produced 769,000 bpd in the first four months of this year.
Pemex said demand for gas to inject into Cantarell has increased significantly, making the Akal gas-processing center one of the most important facilities in the Campeche Sound.
The bids are due 20 July and the contract will be awarded on 7 August.
The company said the work is expected to last two years, said a Dow Jones Newswire report.
