PetroVietnam eyes pairing with Aramco
PetroVietnam plans to enter into a joint venture with Saudi Aramco to explore for oil and gas in Saudi Arabia.
The chief executive of Vietnam’s state oil company, Tran Ngoc Canh has requested Saudi Oil Minister Ali Naimi to facilitate the set-up of a meeting with Aramco in Hanoi, the Reuters reported citing a statement from PetroVietnam.
Canh also expressed interest in cooperating with Saudi Arabia in petrochemical and refining projects in Vietnam, the statement said.
PetroVietnam and Aramco have reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding in February providing for the Saudi oil giant to participate in the supply of sour crude oil to Vietnam's first refinery, the 140,000-barrel per day Dung Quat plant.
