Sevan Driller: rig set to drill in Brazil instead of the US Gulf of Mexico.
Petrobras revises Sevan Driller contract
Petrobras and Sevan Drilling have agreed to revise the charter contract for Sevan Driller now under construction at Cosco shipyard in China.
The drilling unit will be deployed for drilling operations offshore Brazil instead of the US Gulf of Mexico. The rig is now expected to conduct exploration drilling in Santos basin pre-salt cluster at an initial water depth of 2,400 metres.
The contract term of six years remain unchanged and its value is estimated at $1.006 million including a bonus arrangement and mobilisation fee.
Sevan Driller is undergoing the final stages of construction in China. The rig was re-located to Cosco’s Qidong shipyard where the erection of the derrick was completed and its commissioning is now underway.
