Alimak bags BP Valhall gig
Sweden’s Alimak Hek said today it has won a contract to supply a passenger and goods lift for BP’s new platform at the Valhall field in the North Sea.
The lift will have a 6.5 tonnes payload capacity, two separate machinery units with a total of eight motors and will operate on dual mast towers.
Alimak also announced today that it has received orders for a total of 48 Alimak rack and pinion lifts to be supplied to the offshore industry.
The lifts will be manufactured, delivered and installed throughout 2009 and 2010 for new drillships, semi-submersibles and vessels currently under construction.
Customers on the order list include Norway’s Aker Solutions, National Oil Well, Samsung Heavy Industries, Jurong Shipyard and Vinashin Shipyard.
