Tangguh LNG: first shipment may head to South Korea.
First Tangguh LNG may head for Korea
The first shipment from BP’s Tangguh liquefied natural gas project could be diverted from China to South Korea, according to the Indonesian energy minister.
“The first shipment of LNG from Tangguh will not automatically go to Fujian in China,” the Antara news agency quoted Purnomo Yusgiantoro as saying.
“This is because the receiving terminal in Fujian is not ready yet. Consequently, the first shipment will be diverted to another destination, which could be South Korea.”
Purnomo said the government had managed to renegotiate the LNG shipment price with China and South Korea.
The price of the LNG for China National Offshore Oil Corporation buys for delivery to Fujian is now based on the ceiling crude price of $38 per barrel, up from the previous $25 per barrel, the Jakarta Post reported.
Production at the Tangguh LNG project is expected to reach 7 million tonnes a year during the first phase of development.
