More oil shows in Snatcher-1
Australia’s Victoria Petroleum has detected more oil shows in the Snatcher-1 exploration well drilled in the PEL 111 permit in the Cooper basin.
Snatcher-1 encountered good oil shows at two intervals from 1772 metres to 1781.4 metres and from 1781.4 metres to 1787 metres.
Two drill stems conducted on the first interval were met with mechanical failure.
The well will be drilled to a greater depth of 1900 metres before wireline logs and further testing are carried out to evaluate the oil find in the target Birkhead Sandstone.
Snatcher-1 will one of three exploration wells Victoria Petroleum has committed to drill as part of the five-year work programme in the permit. The well is drilled to prove up the resources in the Western Margin Oil trend within PEL 111 and PEL 104.
VicPet and Impress Energy each have a 40% interest in PEL 111 while Roma Petroleum holds the remaining 20% stake.
