Gazprom corrals 74% of Sibir
Russian state-run Gazprom Neft now holds a little more than 74% of London-listed Sibir Energy, according to a Sibir release.
Gazprom Neft owns a 34.1% stake in Sibir and a 14.67% stake through two companies.
The company also has a voting right for a 25.66% stake in Sibir, but doesn't technically own the stake.
Earlier today, Sibir said that Gazprom Neft bought a 25.66% stake in Sibir from businessman Igor Kesaev, according to a Dow Jones Newswires report.
Kesaev's stake equaled that owned by his partner Chalva Tchigirinsky.
Trading in Sibir shares has been suspended since February, pending investigations into erroneous disclosures about controversial real estate dealings with Tchigirinsky.
Gazprom Neft started gradually building up its stake in Sibir in May.
Sibir operates the Salym fields in Western Siberia jointly with Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell and owns half of the Moscow Refinery.
