Typhoon Fengshen attacks the Philippines: bad weather conditions pose trouble for Galoc Production Company.
Galoc remains shut-in on FPSO woes
The Galoc oil field in the Philippines Service Contract 54 remains shut-in after the passing of a bad weather spell, as its operator struggles to reconnect the Rubicon Intrepid floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
The delay is due to mis-orientation and deformation of the mooring and riser system that connects the FPSO to the seabed and the subsea wells, Galoc Production Company (GPC) said.
GPC said an underwater survey is underway to identify the problem and an offshore construction vessel will be arriving on location to undertake the remedial work.
GPC has faced difficulties connecting and reconnecting the Rubicon Intrepid FPSO during and after the start-up of the Galoc oil field.
The FPSO riser system sustained damages and had to undergo repairs earlier this year after the vessel was disconnected from the oilfield last December.
