PGS names seismic boat
Norwegian seismic outfit Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) has named its newest vessel, the Ramform Sterling, at the shipyard where it is being built in Tomrefjord, Norway.
The new ship, which generates up to 30,000 horsepower, can tow up to 22 streamers to gather seismic data.
The latest vessel, a sister ship of the Ramform Sovereign, is longer and faster than the previous class Ramforms, the company said in a release.
Ramform Sterling contains 53 cabins, all with separate bathrooms.
"There has been enormous interest amongst our client base for the vessel, and despite the general slowdown in the seismic market we register that interest for the high productivity, efficiency and safety of the Ramforms,” PGS executive Rune Eng said. “Ramform Sterling already has several good projects lined up throughout the year.
