Munin FPSO: Bluewater's production unit on location at Lufeng 22-1.
Lufeng 22-1 calls it a day
StatoilHydro’s South China Sea Lufeng 22-1 oilfield is undergoing decommissioning after coming offline in mid June.
Bluewater’s Munin floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) will depart China after being disconnected from the oilfield. The FPSO is tied to five subsea wells and installed in 330 metres of water.
CNOOC’s engineering arm, COOEC is contracted to carry out the decommissioning work.
Lufeng 22-1 is the first oilfield to be abandoned in China. The oilfield has produced 42 million barrels oil crude from five subsea wells since coming on stream in 1997.
StatoilHydro holds 75% interest in Lufeng 22-1. CNOOC owns the remaining 25%.
