Giant Petrobras tender boost for yards
Petrobras is putting the final touches to a giant tender process calling for as many as 28 Brazilian-built deep-water drilling rigs, probably starting with seven units to be owned by the oil company and up to four chartered rigs.
The Brazilian national oil company already plans to take delivery of 26 new rigs between 2009 and 2012, but the 28 locally-built units represent the next phase in the company’s huge expansion plan. Delivery of these rigs is scheduled to run from the end of 2013 until 2017.
