Getting ready for wrok: Cosco finishes Sevan Driller.
Cosco wraps up Sevan Driller
Cosco Shipyard Group’s Qidong shipyard has completed work on the Sevan Driller, a circular deep-water drillship.
The rig can drill wells of up to about 13,500 metres (40,000 feet) in water depths of up to about 4200 metres and can store up to 150,000 barrels of oil.
The drill ship was classed in late June by DNV.
The construction began at the Cosco Nantong shipyard in May 2007 and moved to the Qidong shipyard in April for derrick erection and final commissioning activities, according to a DNV release.
The rig is due for delivery in the third quarter of this year and is under contract to Brazilian state-run Petrobras in the Santos Basin, off the Brazilian coastline.
