First oil flows from Espirito Santo
SBM Offshore’s Espirito Santo floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) has started production on Monday in Shell’s BC-10 deep-water field development offshore Brazil.
Espirito Santo is on a 15-year charter to the Shell-operated BC-10 joint venture, which includes participating interest from ONGC and Petrobras The FPSO is moored in 1789 metres of water and designed to treat 45 mmcfd of gas and process 100,000 barrels of oil per day with gravity ranging from 16 degree API to 42 degree API.
Espirito Santo is touted the first turret-moored FPSO in the world using steel catenary risers for fluid transfer and SBM’s deepest moored FPSO.
SBM and partner MISC were awarded the FPSO contract in November 2006.
