AuDax pushes on for Sambuca rig
Australia’s AuDax Resources received only a handful of bids from drilling rig owners as it seeks a semi-submersible rig to drill the Sambuca prospect in the Mediterranean Sea.
The outfit only received six bids, while nine other companies declined the invitation due to rig unavailability of simply did not respond.
The company said it is pleased with the response given that they are only seeking a one well contract.
AuDax expects to make a contract award around the 20 October.
The Sambuca prospect lies in two contiguous exploration permits, in G.R15.PU, off the island of Pantelleria in Italian waters and in the Kerkouane permit off north-east Tunisia.
The Sambuca prospect appears to be one of the largest undrilled structures in the Mediterranean Sea with a total of proved plus probable unrisked recoverable resource potential of 270 million barrels of oil equivalent, AuDax said.
