Pertamina's chief: Karen Agustiawan.
Pertamina runs short of patience on Cepu
State-owned Pertamina said ExxonMobil has been given ‘enough time’ to lift oil flow from Cepu, hinting it may push for changes in a contract to operate the oil and gas block.
In an interview with Dow Jones, Karen Agustiawan said "this is the time [Cepu] needs to be on stream".
She also said Pertamina ‘have to have a say’ if it should take over operating of the block from ExxonMobil.
Cepu started production in December 2008 but shut in April due to pipeline problems, the Dow Jones reported.
ExxonMobil has pledged to ramp up production to 20,000 barrels per day, but only managed a reported 5000 bpd as of late September.
Pertamina is also mulling over an exchange in block interest for 15% of Total’s South Mahakam. Agustiawan told Dow Jones no decision will be made on the block in question until an evaluation on Makakam’s upside potential is completed by the end of October.
