Chevron Kazakh venture boosts output
Kazakhstan's largest oil producer, the Chevron-led venture Tengizchevroil, will produce 22.5 million tonnes of oil this year, up from 17.3 million tonnes in 2008, a senior Kazakh official said today.
"Tengizchevroil is expected to increase planned output from 21.5 million tonnes to 22.5 million tonnes," Deputy Energy Minister Duisenbai Turganov told a government meeting.
Tengizchevroil, owned by Chevron, ExxonMobil, Lukoil and Kazakh state energy company KazMunaiGas, is developing the giant Tengiz oilfield in Western Kazakhstan.
It produced 10.2 million tonnes of oil in the first half of this year, reported Reuters.
