Indonesia: country's major gas project Abadi waiting for Jakarta's stamp of approval on development plan.
Jakarta mulls onshore options for Abadi
Indonesian government is looking at commissioning a special study to evaluate alternatives to process Abadi gas at nearby islands.
Other than the proposed floating liquefied natural gas plant, the government is also considering two other options to pipe gas to Aru or Tanimbar Islands, director general of oil and gas, Evita Legowo said at the sideline of a symposium in Singapore.
The FLNG plant proposed by project operator, Inpex, was targeted to start up in 2016 and expected to produce 4.5 million tonnes of output per annum.
Legowo said at least 25% of the output will be set aside for domestic requirements.
The move to reassess the onshore alternatives may set back Inpex's earlier plan to proceed with the front-end engineering and design work on the FLNG proposal in 2010.
