Baghad plans Kirkuk talk with Shell
Baghad and Shell may discuss Iraq’s Kirkuk oilfield before the end of the month, a senior Iraqi oil official said.
Abdul-Mahdy Ameedi, deputy director of Iraq's contracts and licensing directorate, told Reuters China's Sinopec would be excluded from involvement in any Shell deal on Kirkuk due to its involvement with Iraq's Kurdish region.
Baghdad deems oil deals foreign oil firms have made independently with the Kurdistan Regional Government to be illegal.
Iraq is due to meet Italy's Eni over the next two days to discuss its bid for the Zubair oilfield, and Iraqi officials are also expected to meet Nippon Oil in early November to discuss a deal to develop the Nassiriya oilfield, Ameedi said.
