Less gas: via Ukraine from Russia
Russia-Ukraine transit gas slides
Russian gas transit through Ukraine to Europe fell to 64.9 billion cubic metres in January to September, 29.9% lower than in the same period last year, Ukraine's energy ministry said today.
European countries have cut energy consumption as industrial activity falls due to a global economic slowdown.
Russian gas transit via Ukraine fell 33.2% in the first eight months of this year, reported Reuters.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian oil and gas refineries processed 65.6 million barrels equivalent of crude oil and gas condensate in the same period, or 0.7% more than in the same period in 2008.
The ministry provided no explanation for the change in processing.
