Marathon Oil plans to drill three wells in Pasangkayu PSC off Indonesia over the next two years.
Marathon will use Transocean’s drillship, GSF Explorer, secured under a two-year deal through the Makassar Straits Explorers Consortium, a company official said at the second Annual Oil & Gas Outlook Asia in Singapore today. .
Drilling is expected to commence in Pasangkayu during the first quarter. The first two wells are planned for 2010 and the third will be drilled in 2011, according to a separate industry source.
The committed work programme for Pasangkayu PSC also includes the drilling of an onshore well, the source said.
The US independent plans to conduct 2D seismic surveys next year in two other Indonesian PSCs, the Bone Bay and Kumawa blocks.
The 2010 programme will see the acquisition of 3000 kilometres line seismic each in either blocks.
A separate tender was earlier issued for the charter of a seismic vessel under a consortium led by another US outfit, Black Gold Energy.
