Atwood Southern Cross: earmarked for Tunisian wildcat.
AuDax set on Atwood for Tunisian wildcat
AuDax Resources is about to finalise semi-submersible Atwood Southern Cross for its first wildcat on the Sambuca prospect in the Kerkoukane permit located in Mediterranean Sea off north-east Tunisia.
Subject to a final agreement with Atwood Oceanics and government approvals, AuDax expects to drill an exploration well in the summer season of 2010.
Atwood emerged as the winner of six competing bids in a recent tender.
The technical and commercial evaluation were approved by Enterprise Tunisienne D’Activities Petrolieres in Tunis.
The Sambuca prospect appears to be one of the largest undrilled structures in the Mediterranean Sea with a total of proved plus probable unrisked recoverable resource potential of 270 million barrels of oil equivalent, AuDax said.
