Strong winds shut in Bohai fields
China National Offshore Oil Corporation Ltd (CNOOC LTD) has shut in production at the Bozhong (BZ) 25-1 and BZ25-1 South oilfields due to strong winds in China’s Bohai Bay.
The floating production, storage and offloading vessel Haiyangshiyou 113 shifted from its moorings but has been safely secured, CNOOC said in a statement.
No injuries or oil spills were reported.
CNOOC has begun recovery activities in the oilfields.
The BZ25-1 and BZ25-1South project is jointly developed with Chevron. CNOOC Ltd. holds 83.8% of interest and acts as the operator.
Prior to the shut-in on 10 November, the production capacity of BZ25-1/BZ25-1South oilfield was about 27,000 barrels per day.
