US rigs up by 12
The number of oil and gas rigs drilling in the US is up 12 this week bringing the total to 1113.
The number of rigs drilling for oil is up by 14 to 375 and those drilling for gas lost two to total 726, according to a report by Houston-based oilfield services company Baker Hughes released today.
On a state-by-state basis, Texas gained the most this week with nine bringing the total up to 441 rigs, while Colorado lost the most this week with nine to total 31.
Louisiana gained six this week bringing its total to 172, while North Dakota gained four to total 58, Oklahoma gained two to total 79 and Alaska gained one to total nine.
New Mexico lost two rigs this week changing their total to 46, while California and Arkansas each lost one bringing their total to 24 and 39.
Meanwhile, Wyoming remained unchanged at 39 this week.
