New job: for Singapore's Keppel
Keppel bags Petrovietnam rig gig
Keppel Fels is set to build the first semi-submersible drilling tender rig (SSDT) for PetroVietnam’s drilling arm, PV Drilling.
The formal contract valued at about $200 million will be finalised in December 2009.
The rig to be built to KFELS SSDT 3600E design, will be capable of operating and maintaining station keeping in deep waters of up to 5000 feet alongside spars and tension leg platforms.
The rig design features an 8-point mooring system, which allows the rig to maintain its position amidst currents of up to 6 knots.
Delivery is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2011. As earlier reported, the rig is expected to begin a multi-year charter drilling development wells for PetroVietnam’s Bien Dong Production & Operating Company.
Prior to the new tender assist rig, Keppel has built and delivered three KFELS B Class jack-ups to PV Drilling.
The KFELS SSDT 3600E was conferred the Shell Rig Award in 2004 and 2006. The design also won recognition from the Institution of Engineers Singapore for its eco-friendly features.
