US rigs up by 24
The number of oil and gas rigs drilling in the US is up 24 this week bringing the total to 1137.
The number of rigs drilling for oil is up by four to 379 and those drilling for gas is up 22 to total 748, according to a report by Houston-based oilfield services company Baker Hughes released today.
On a state-by-state basis, Texas gained the most this week with 11 bringing the total up to 452 rigs, followed by Colorado, which gained 10 to total 41.
Louisiana lost three this week bringing its total to 169, while North Dakota gained one to total 59, Oklahoma gained seven to total 86 and Alaska lost one to total eight.
New Mexico added one rig this week, changing their total to 47.
Wyoming lost one and Arkansas gained one rig bringing their total to 39 and 40, respectively.
Meanwhile, California remained unchanged at 24 this week.
