Det Norske sets a record at Trolla
Det Norske Oljeselskapet has set a world record and notched up a first on the country's continental shelf with a wellhead operation at Trolla.
The Norwegian player notched up its Norwegian first by cutting and removing a wellhead from a vessel rather than a rig, carrying out the work in a world-record water depth of 270 metres.
The previous record for the technology was 141 metres.
After having some trouble freeing the 9 5/8 "casing, the well was abandoned on 3 October, after it was secured in accordance with Petroleum Safety Authority Authority regulations.
Norse Cutting & Abandonment (NCA) helped Det Norske carry out the work.
NCA's equipment was installed on the anchor handling vessel Olympic Zeus for the operation.
The work was carried out between 18 November and 23 November.
