Money talk: between Gazprom and Ukraine
Ukraine's gas bill set to rise
The price of Russian gas for Ukraine is likely to reach $300 to $310 per 1000 cubic metres in the first quarter of next year, up from this quarter's price of $208 per Mcm, the Russian gas giant Gazprom's Ukrainian unit said.
Ukraine imported Russian gas at $360 per Mcm in the first quarter of this year, $273 per Mcm in the second quarter and $198 per Mcm in the third quarter.
Local news agencies quoted Gazprom Sbyt Ukraina noss Anatoly Podmyshalsky as saying the gas transit fee was likely to rise to up to $3 for transporting 1000 cubic metres of gas per 100 kilometres from $1.7 per Mcm per kilometre this year.
Ukraine plans to import 33.75 billion cubic metres of Russian gas next year, a Reuters report said.
Earlier this year Gazprom forecast that from 1 January, the transit fee would reach market levels and be calculated according to the general European formula.
It should reach around $2.67 to $2.72 per Mcm per 100 kilometres, according to Gazprom and Ukrainian state energy company Naftohaz.
Naftohaz declined to comment on new forecast for the gas price and the transit cost.
