More production: expected from Oman
Oman on track for output boost
Oman is on track to increase oil output for the second consecutive year and looks set to beat its 2009 target of around 800,000 barrels per day, according to official data released today.
Oman, which saw production decline between 2002 and 2007, has invested heavily in enhanced oil recovery and aims to pump up output to around 900,000 bpd this year, a Reuters report said.
Data released by the Ministry of Economy showed that output for the first 11 months of last year stood at 809,600 barrels per day, up 7.2% year-on-year. Last week, the country's total output for 2009 as a whole was pegged at about 810,000 bpd.
Oman's oil output peaked at 956,000 bpd in 2001, Reuters said.
