Full speed ahead: ExxonMobil says its targeting to open the Golden Pass LNG terminal by the middle of the year.
Golden Pass LNG moving ahead
The delayed Golden Pass liquefied natural gas import terminal in Texas is expected to start up in the second half of this year, an ExxonMobil executive said today.
The terminal, part-owned by Exxon, was delayed from its initial start up this year by hurricane damage and had been expected to come online in mid-2010.
"We would expect to see the Golden Pass LNG terminal come on in the second half of this year and be ready to receive LNG," David Rosenthal, vice president of ExxonMobil investor relations, said during an earnings conference call.
The terminal is owned by Qatar Petroleum (70%), ExxonMobil (17.6%) and ConocoPhillips (12.4%) and is expected to receive LNG from Qatar where ExxonMobil has production capacity.
Rasgas's 7.8 million-tonne-per-year train 7, in which ExxonMobil has a 30% stake, is expected to come online in the next few weeks, Rosenthal said.
"Gas is now flowing into the facility and we anticipate first LNG in the coming weeks," he said in a Reuters report.
