No go: roads in Australia's Northern Territory have been closed due to heavy rain
Victoria confirms Cooper shut ins
Australia’s Victoria Petroleum has confirmed that the Growler, Snatcher and Mirage oil fields on the northern Cooper basin in South Australia have been shut in as heavy rains have made the roads in the area impassable.
Victoria said roads in the area had been closed by Australian oil group Santos as tankers were unable to reach producing fields to take off oil due to the rain, blamed on the remnants of Cyclone Olga. The Growler, Snatcher and Mirage fields on PRL 15 and PEL 11 had been shut as storage tanks on the fields had filled up.
Project partner Impress Energy said yesterday the Snatcher field had closed and the shut-in of the Growler field was “imminent”.
The PRL 15 and PEL 11 joint venture is operated by Victoria Petroleum with a 40% stake on behalf of Impress, with 40%, and Permian Oil, with 20%.
Santos operates a gathering and refining centre at Moomba, as well as the Moomba/Dullingari-Port Bonython export pipeline.
